SUIT Training
SUIT (Service User Involvement Team) offer a
unique opportunity for learners to build their
knowledge of substance misuse. The training
is produced, written and delivered by
recovering drug and alcohol users which gives
the learner an insight into the world of addiction, treatment and the
lifestyle traits associated with those involved in this world. More so, a
section of the training focuses on recovery – what it means to
different people, the role of society in aiding the process and how
people living through the transition can strive towards reintegration.
Participants are encouraged to challenge their personal perceptions of
addiction in a friendly and open environment and what better way to
do this than interacting directly with people willing to share their
personal life experiences with them. This is a therapeutic approach that
SUIT hope will start to shift the negativity associated with substance
misuse, towards a much more understanding and caring one.
All the training is mapped to
DANOS
(Drug and Alcohol Occupational
Standards), and we also offer ongoing support and guidance for learners.
Also included is a free organisational copy of
User Friendly
– our 2011
DDN
National Service User, award-winning film – as well as copies of our
service user magazine entitled
Substance
, plus muchmore.
