W
e met in the autumn of 2007 playing on
the Pirates, a recreational soccer team in
the Golden Gate Women’s Soccer League.
There was no ‘official’ proposal, just a
series of conversations about what each
of us wanted. We both decided that we wanted rings to
symbolise our love and commitment to each other, and
when we’d collected them, we walked our dogs out to a cliff
in our neighbourhood. Looking out over the mountains and
ocean, we exchanged them with some sweet words about
how we felt about one another.
We’d been debating the best location for our wedding
for a while when we went on holiday to Sayulita, mexico.
during our holiday we became decidedly convinced that this
was the place we wanted to get married – a wedding in one
of our favourite places on earth was precisely the experience
we wanted to share with all of our loved ones. We wanted
our wedding to match the feel of Sayulita – relaxed and
beachy, with our guests grabbing a cocktail before the
