events of all shapes and sizes will be running until
September in Newcastle, from a sport and games
tournament on 30 June to the drag Ball 2013 on 17
September – so whatever your interest, Newcastle Pride
has got you covered. Colours of the rainbow is the
theme this year, so dazzle like a peacock at the parade
on 20 July.
the Pride Festival will follow the march, and will be
chock-a-block with acts such as Amelia Lily and Katrina
and the Waves – as well as the Steve Paske Health Zone,
giving you information on health related issues and
offering a full sexual health screening within the onsite
clinic. A cabaret tent, fun fair, family zone and market
stalls will all keep you entertained, not to mention the
alternative stage that gives a platform for local acts to
show you what they’ve got.

A hop and a skip across the water and Pride surges on.
yesterday’s Struggle is today’s Heritage is the motto, as
Heritage of Pride hosts New york City’s Pride events, in
commemoration of the Stonewall riots of 1969.
the Big Apple is putting on a big show, commencing
on 28 June with the NyC Pride rally, where well-known
performers and inspirational speakers will rev up the
crowd for the week ahead. Activities continue with the
viP rooftop Party and rapture on the river, where dJs
Serving ovahness, Marco da Silva, dJ Whitney day and
more will create a party atmosphere like no other.
things finally come to a head on 30 June, with the
PrideFest LGBt street fair putting on a day of celebration
in the name of equality, Hed Kandi’s Pride Poolside,
dance on the Pier raising money to benefit New york
City’s official Pride events and LGBt community
organisations – and of course, the march.
