anniversary year they chose. We’ll open the jars on their
respective anniversaries and read the messages from our
loved ones – over a bottle of wine, i’m sure!
a real high point was having all of our friends and family
hanging out together for a while. most of our guests stayed
between five and ten days and we had a meeting spot on
the beach where we would all gather. Watching our worlds
come together and friendships form between uncles and
friends from different times in our lives was heart filling.
The actual day felt like perfection – that’s the only word
to describe seeing all of your friends and family come
together in a small beach town in mexico to witness you
marry the person you love. absolute perfection.
my advice to other couples is to get awesome people
involved from the start. Having great planners is
irreplaceable – we never felt overwhelmed or stressed
throughout the planning process because katy and nicole
were so great at their jobs. Having an awesome
photographer is vital – the photographer is with you
intimately throughout the entire day, so having someone
as chilled, talented and happy as Shannon was huge, and
he was awesome to work with. From our tailor to the
vendors to the planners and the photographer, working
with great people makes planning and executing a wedding
easy and enjoyable.
We absolutely loved having a destination wedding.
Having all of our important people together in one of our
favourite places on earth was an amazing experience and it
elongated the celebration – i can’t imagine trying to jam all
of that love and fun into one day. So, if it’s something you’re
considering, do it!
identify which elements of the ceremony and reception
are actually important to you and then remember the things
that aren’t on this list truly don’t matter – they’re just small
details. The day will be amazing no matter what colour your
napkins are!
