THAT ’70S SHOW
The 1970s is a huge look this season and it fits perfectly
with summer weddings. From bright and jazzy prints to
flowing dresses and flares – as well as the iconic sailor
trousers – we’re full steam ahead!
GUCCI
really is leading in the ’70s trend and has created
some wonderful pieces this season, with psychedelic
prints incorporating eastern cuts to give that genuine
multi-cultural feel of the decade. Gucci’s most notable
piece is the loose-fitting tunic dress with midi sleeves and
the statement ‘trainer-lace’lace-up front – paired with
some brown suede heels, the ’70s sure are ‘stayin’alive’.
VICTORIA BECKHAM
has designed a large lapelled
two-piece suit with huge pink floral prints, creating a
sophisticated wedding outfit with a feminine and
artsy twist.
GO FOR GLAM
If you aren’t the feminine and floral type – fear not,
because
TOM FORD
owned the ’70s glam-rock style
with leathers, well-tailored jackets, shiny gold and
silver flares and killer leopard-print platform heels.
As well as fitted sequin tops and heavy accessories,
the skinny neck scarf is also scattered all over the
runway. With Marc Bolan as Ford’s inspiration this
season, who could ever doubt him?
TOMMY HILFIGER
also gave praise to the glam-rock
’70s with Lurex-look flares, neck chokers and heavy
eyeliner. Can we order some glam-rock with extra glam
on the side, please?
DENIM DREAMS
Denim is huge this summer – whether you are mix-
matching different shades, sporting an all-in-one or a
timeless denim shirt-dress, you are sure to be ticking all
the right boxes for this season.
BURBERRY PRORSUM
’s beautifully tailored Japanese-
stretch denim jacket has been lined with ultra white
and fluffy shearling, giving this wardrobe essential a
more elegant, feminine look.
STELLAMCCARTNEY
went all out with double denim,
pairing ultra baggy culottes with elasticised
waists and tightly fitted denim jackets for a
slightly tomboy take on the ’70s look. She also
paired flowing wrap-style skirts with a
feminine low-neck tunic top, lowering
the waistline and giving a 1930s feel.
