Fernie Castle
is in a superb location for anyone visiting
Scotland. This 450 year old castle can offer all the character
of the past with comforts today's visitor expects from a
hotel with such high recommendations and awards.
Situated in 17 acres of woodlands, with it's own loch, there
is ample parking space and places to stroll, or just relax.
Neil and Mary Blackburn personally supervise the complete
operation of this fairy tale castle. Our standards are the
same whether it's a pot of coffee by the open log fire to a full

If you go down to the woods you will find
Fernie Castle Treehouse. Perched in six lofty
sycamores, entry is via a flight of stairs to a fairy light-
festooned balcony. The bedroom holds a huge elm kingsized bed
and other specially designed furniture. As you explore further
you climb up what appears to be the inside of a hollow tree and
emerge into an octagonal bathroomwith walls painted twilight
blue and a frieze of fairies who flit among trees overhanging
pools of water. The ceiling is awash with stars and a pale moon
shines onto grazing unicorns. In the centre sits a huge slipper
bath under a chandelier of leaves and flowers.
